Papertrade synthetic perpetuals and loss-based PAPER rewards guide

Papertrade: Understand Loss-Based PAPER Rewards

Papertrade: Understand Loss-Based PAPER Rewards

Papertrade is a live synthetic perpetuals exchange on HyperEVM. Its unusual token model distributes PAPER when eligible positions close at a loss or are liquidated. This is not a free quest campaign: participation uses real deposited funds, and PAPER does not reimburse a trading loss. The project’s own documentation calls it a fair launch with no conventional airdrop.

The documented launch curve mints 100 PAPER per $1 of eligible loss basis while tracked liquidity is below $2 million, then reduces emissions as liquidity grows. Check the current curve in the app rather than assuming that launch rate still applies. PAPER starts with no pre-mint, team or VC allocation, or vesting. The docs say transfers are unavailable at launch; staking and unstaking are available. Do not assume a liquid market or a dollar value for PAPER.

About Papertrade

Papertrade uses Hyperliquid market prices to settle synthetic swaps directly against its own liquidity pool. No perpetual contract changes hands on Hyperliquid itself. The platform advertises leverage up to 1,000×, no spread, no funding costs and reference-price execution without order-book slippage, subject to market limits. High leverage can liquidate a position after a very small price move.

Profitable closes receive an asymmetric impact adjustment and then a 2% fee on the remaining gain. Losing closes bear the loss without an additional user-side trading fee. If liquidity cannot cover a profitable settlement, unpaid proceeds can enter a queue that depends on future liquidity. A displayed profit is therefore not always immediately withdrawable.

Staked PAPER can receive USDC from qualifying protocol activity and liquidity overflow. The docs describe a conditional 1% share of realized PnL and overflow distributions above a $5 million tracked-liquidity cap. These are variable distributions, not a fixed yield or a guaranteed recovery of money lost.

Step-by-Step Guide to Papertrade’s PAPER Model

  1. Read the mechanics first. Review the official Papertrade documentation, including wins and losses and the payout queue. Decide whether the costs and risks fit your circumstances before committing funds.
  2. Review the live interface. Visit the Papertrade exchange. The documented connection flow registers a session key through a wallet signature. Understand its scope before connecting.
  3. Check deposit requirements. The docs require at least 10 USDC to arrive after fees, plus a one-time 1 USDC activation fee for a first deposit and any route or bridge fees. Supported routes include USDC from Hyperliquid, HyperEVM, Ethereum, Arbitrum and Solana, or USDG from Robinhood Chain. Review the amount shown by the app; this is real capital, not testnet credit.
  4. Understand any position before opening it. Review the market, direction, margin, leverage and liquidation price. The source listing describes BTC and ETH markets. Verify current availability in the app. Do not deliberately lose money to collect PAPER; token rewards do not make a losing position profitable.
  5. Inspect PAPER emissions and balances. Eligible realized losses mint PAPER under the current emissions curve. Check the live rate, eligibility, balance and minting history in the exchange instead of treating the launch rate as a standing offer.
  6. Review staking and claims. Use the staking dashboard and staking documentation to check staking, unstaking and available USDC claims. Rewards depend on protocol conditions and may be zero.
  7. Monitor liquidity and withdrawal limits. Check protocol statistics and the House dashboard. The documented withdrawal minimum is 10 USDC and available balance excludes committed margin. Review any queue and route fees before proceeding.
