SUBFROST: Prepare for PERMAFROST FUEL Farming
Crypto Club Earners, SUBFROST has announced PERMAFROST Season 1, a FUEL farming campaign built around Bitcoin-dollar liquidity. Its official Rewards page says the vault opens September 25, 2026 at 10:00 UTC, or 6:00 a.m. EDT. Rewards begin later at Bitcoin block 970,000, so the vault opening and the reward start are separate events.
This is a capital-based DeFi campaign, not a free claim. You provide frBTC/frUSD liquidity, deposit the liquidity-provider tokens into a vault for cBTCUSD shares, and place those shares in a farm. Farm weight determines your share of FUEL. The page still displays the Season 1 allocation as X%, so the final percentage and value of rewards are not established.
About SUBFROST
SUBFROST offers swaps, liquidity pools and vaults using Alkanes on Bitcoin. Its frBTC asset represents BTC held by a group of signers. The official documentation currently describes nine signers whose identities are not yet public. This custody arrangement introduces assumptions that readers should understand before committing BTC.
The separate FIRE rewards system uses DIESEL/frBTC liquidity. PERMAFROST uses the frBTC/frUSD market for FUEL farming; these are different positions with different terms. This guide focuses on the announced PERMAFROST launch.
Opportunity Snapshot
- Cost: Real capital plus Bitcoin network fees
- Skill level: Advanced
- Time: About 30 minutes to review and set up; ongoing position management
- Network: Bitcoin / Alkanes
- Reward: FUEL share by farm weight; total allocation undisclosed
Step-by-Step Guide to PERMAFROST
- Review the live launch state. Open the official Rewards page. It currently labels deposits, rankings and projections as example data. Do not treat those preview figures as actual TVL, personal earnings or guaranteed rewards. Recheck the vault opening and reward-start block when participating.
- Review wallet and custody risks. Read the official setup guide and safety guidance. Use a dedicated Bitcoin wallet with no Ordinals, Runes or BRC-20 assets. SUBFROST warns that its transactions may spend the UTXOs carrying those assets and burn them. Keep recovery words offline and never share them.
- Assess the liquidity position. Once the vault opens, use the official app to review the frBTC/frUSD pool. The Rewards page describes a BTC entry route or a paired frBTC/frUSD deposit. Liquidity provision carries price, pool, custody and software risk, plus network fees.
- Deposit LP for cBTCUSD. Review the displayed vault terms before depositing liquidity-provider tokens. The official page says exiting leaves 5% of the LP behind for remaining holders. That cost can exceed any reward you receive.
- Open a farm. On the Rewards page, place cBTCUSD in a farm when the interface becomes available. Weight depends on the amount, blocks held and any applicable multiplier. Rewards accrue from the named season-start block, not simply from visiting the page.
- Understand optional bonding and vesting. Bonding FIRE worth up to 4% of a farm can increase the multiplier up to 1.5 times, but the bonded FIRE goes to the treasury and never returns. FUEL is subject to a stated 180-day vesting period. Optional bonding is a permanent financial commitment, not a free boost.
What to Verify Before Depositing
The preview includes inconsistent season-date text in its footer, while the prominent launch notice specifies September 25 and block 970,000. Treat the live official announcement and final transaction terms as controlling; do not infer a reliable season end date from example data. The allocation remains unpublished, and projected shares are not entitlements.
We reviewed the public listing, Rewards page and official documentation without connecting a wallet or testing deposits or claims. The listing also flags the absence of a complete end-to-end formal audit and a prior Alkanes indexer incident. Recheck current security disclosures in the official documentation. Rewards do not remove the possibility of losing principal.
Learn & Earn: What Is Threshold Signing?
Threshold signing splits control of a reserve among several signers. A required group must cooperate before funds move. SUBFROST uses this arrangement for the BTC behind frBTC, rather than giving one signer unilateral control.
Why it matters: BTC backing and access to that backing are separate questions. Read SUBFROST’s explanation to understand its current signer set and planned changes before using frBTC in a liquidity strategy.
